The three painted buffalo skulls above represent our past, present, and future, as well as our mind, body, and spirit. Why buffalo skulls? As I have been taught, buffalo skulls are used in our sacred ceremonies to honor the creatures that were gifted to the people by our chief, who is considered to be. Above (God). The paintings on these skulls utilize a wide range of colors and numerous markings. The color red symbolizes "the people," representing one of our internal generational life sources—the blood of all mankind. The color blue symbolizes heaven and purity, often associated with spiritual and sacred qualities. The color orange represents beginnings and endings, much like the sunrise that marks the start of a new day or the sunset that signifies the end.
Below the rider is a design of flowers and wild strawberries. The flowers reflect a lesson my mother taught me about understanding the beginnings and ends of life, particularly the loss of our loved ones. "We are all flowers in God's garden. Although we may be different, God loves us equally. There comes a time in our lives when God walks through His garden and picks the ones that are ready to go home. Some may not be ready, but we will all be picked someday." The strawberries remind us that in our growth and journey, we will face both bitter and sweet moments; to know sweetness, one must also experience bitterness.
And then, the rider, I believe, many of us wish to see ourselves ride through our lives with honor, courage, respect, and a connection to the divine powers that God has provided for us so that we can enjoy our ride. Image size 17 ''x 11", framed size 29.5 "x 23.5", framed in a hardwood mahogany wood frame with 4" archival matte.

In this painting two of the most significant animal powers recognized by many indigenous people connected two prominent young warriors as their journey's cross paths. Our journeys in life are short but make them memorable by becoming the beauty of what you are meant to be in life and encourage others to do the same, be respectful, honorable, loving and thankful to all those who enter your life for a moment or for a lifetime.
